Weight Loss: Tips About the Most Effective Way to Loss Weight

Tags: , , , , ,

Weight loss has become an everyday topic across all ages in the American population today. You will agree with me that the population has quickly realized the extent to which obesity has become a serious health problem that needs immediate attention. The sad reality of the situation is the fact that it is not getting any better. More and more children and young adults are becoming over weight at an early age now than it was ten year ago. This scenario is accelerated by the fact that majority of the affected population give up the battle against weight control and give in to obesity.

I get asked almost everyday by different people who are looking for ways to loss weight for an effective weight loss method. I am sure this question sounds familiar to most people in our society today – or at least most of us can relate to it in one way or the other. I wish there was one simple and clear answer to this question, but the reality is there isn’t. This does not mean there are no solutions to over weight problem. To better understand the effectiveness of weight loss method, we need to consider the following facts:

Overweight is long term: It is a fact that weight does not built up over night, it takes months if not years. The rate at which people gain extra weight however varies with individuals based on different factors that include, but not limited to: metabolism, physical activities, calories consumed, genes and lifestyle among others. Among these factors, food is the chief source of extra body weight gain. Considering that an average adult requires an average of 2000 calories daily, majority of the people go beyond. The body only utilizes what it needs for energy production to sustain the body systems and the surplus is converted to fats and stored mainly around the belly area. The only way to get rid of this fat would be through work. Whatever method of weight loss you choose should be one that enables you to burn more calories than you consume. It is also important to remember that a healthy weight loss is a slow process that demands some sacrifices.

The rate of losing weight is relative to individual’s body weight: When all factors are kept constant, the rate at which an individual losses weight depend the individual’s extra body weight. An individual with a larger extra body weight tends to loss more than an individual with a smaller extra weight. For instance, when a group of overweight individuals are put through a similar training program for some weeks, it is possible to witness as high as a 50 pound weight loss from one and as low as 2 pounds from another. This picture often misleads many people especially when the extra or targeted weight is not given. It is therefore more meaningful to calculate the percentage of an individual’s weight loss relative to the overall extra body weight. Losing more weight doesn’t not always imply that an individual is better than the one who loses less.

Achieving a healthy body weight does not always mean losing weight. Most weight loss methods, for example recreational sports, facilitate muscle growth in the place of fat. This means that even though you are burning fat by going to the gym, running or jogging, the scale may still be reading the same weight or in some cases even more. In this situation, physical fitness rather than the scale reading should be used to judge one’s health status. Remember muscle weigh more than fat. Strive for a healthy status rather than a mere drop in pounds.

Sustainable body weight is achieved through gradual healthy weight loss methods: It is only natural for humans to want to loss all the extra weight as quickly as possible and forget about it. There are consequently hundreds if not thousands of weight loss pills readily available everywhere for this quick fix. The troubles with most of them are the site effects. Contrary to quick fix, weight loss must be both achievable and sustainable. Sustainable healthy weight require work and patience, there is no short cut!

Hints: An effective weight loss method must:

Have no negative effects on the body

Become part of one’s lifestyle

Fun and entertaining

Inexpensive and easy to perform

If you can’t think of any healthy weight loss method to use, here are some great options to choose from:

Running, Jogging, Walking, Swimming, Weight lifting, Synchronized exercises, hiking, skiing, biking, rock climbing, beach volley ball, tennis and Kayaking among others.

Be wise, choose what works for you and stick to it, make it part of your lifestyle, embrace it and you won’t have to worry about the scale.

All You Need To Know About Short Term Health Insurance Plans

ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT SHORT TERM HEALTH INSURANCE PLANS

Who Needs Short Term Health Insurance Plans?

Having one offers you peace of mind and ease of pocket by giving you protection against large medical bills. If you ever require medical care, these companies will share the burden of the medical bills with you. It is almost a necessity now with the ever-increasing cost of medical care and medications.

However, there may be some instances in your life that you may be left without the protection of a health insurance. For examples:

If you have just completed your education, your student health insurance that would have provided you coverage previously may have ceased tobe effective. If you are currently unemployed and looking for a job, you may be without a medical coverage. If you have just resigned from your job which previously offered you a group health insurance, you will be left without any until you find another. If you are travelling to U.S. for a short period of time as an international student or as an employee, you may want onw to cover you during your stay.

The great news is there is a perfect solution to these instances that you are left with no health insurance protection – a short term health insurance.

How Long Is Short Term?

While most of these plans cover you from one to six months, there are those that offer you coverage for up to a year. The period basically depends on your stipulation. You can always renew your short term health insurance plans if you require coverage for a longer period. However, most of them do not run for more than a year.

Advantages of Short Term Plans

They do not require you to undergo physical examinations The application process is easier with lesser paperwork and effort than for a general health insurance. However some companies may charge you a nominal fee for processing your application. Your coverage becomes effective from the time the company gets your first premium, which can be within 24 hours of submitting the application for the insurance. They do cover you for accidents and sudden illnesses. Often you are allowed to visit doctors and medical facilities of your choice.

Disadvantages of Short Term Plans

They usually do not cover pre-existing health conditions (something you may have received treatment for within the past 5 years). They also do not cover routine medical care such as dental, optical and medical check-ups. They do not cover medical bills pertaining to pregnancy and childbirth. They do not guarantee renewals. So suppose you had taken a 3-month plan and you get into an accident on the 3rd month, the company will cover your costs only for the 3rd month. However, you may need on-going medical care during the 4th and 5th months. You are not covered by the insurance during the 4th and 5th months and there is no guarantee that you current company will renew your policy. If you want to go somewhere else for a short term insurance policy, they will also not cover your medical costs pertaining to the accident as it will be considered a pre-existing condition. People with pre-existing conditions may find it difficult to get a short term health insurance. If they do get one, it would probably be more costly.

While short term health insurance may prove to be useful to many, there are some people who would prefer a general one. One reason is because, they may not know the exact time-frame they require the short term coverage. Furthermore, for those looking for a job, there is also no guarantee that their new employee will provide group medical plans. Study your needs and situation carefully when deciding on a short term health insurance.

The Truth About Hoodia and Weight Loss

Tags: , , , ,

So, are you looking to learn the truth about Hoodia? As you are reading this, millions of people around the world are spending money on this supposed miracle diet aid…but does it work? Does it live up to the claims? We all wish it were that easy to lose weight!

Does Hoodia work for quick weight loss? Will it help you keep weight off if you eat junk food? It’s time to dig into these questions and more to discover whether or not this new weight loss pill actually has some powerful weight loss benefits.

Your search on the internet has no doubt led to multiple advertisements claiming this plant to be the strongest natural weight loss product to ever hit the scene. However, spending money on a quick weight loss product is something that requires much more research.

While there are some honest companies out there selling 100% authentic Hoodia, there are many snake oil salesman selling Hoodia that is not real or authentic. Many companies either use an insignificant amount of Hoodia in their formulas or do not use Hoodia at all!

Because of the lack of federal regulation on supplements, smaller companies can easily slip past any inspections and get away with selling sub-par formulas with sub-par standards. Most of these companies aren’t even inspected!

The ads sound something like a fountain of youth campaign, only, they resemble the fountain of never-ending easy weight loss. “Take such and such pill and don’t change anything else in your diet and lose 20lbs. in 2 weeks!” Well, don’t you think that if a product worked that well that there would be some type of pharmaceutical company with the patent?

Let’s get something straight… Quick fixes for anything NEVER work, and they especially NEVER work for weight loss. This statement is as true now as it could ever be in the future and if you are looking to pills to change your physique…you are looking in the wrong place.

I can’t even tell you how many of my friends were totally sold on Hoodia. They bought it and then they got zero weight loss results whatsoever. Now, they are about $100 in debt for something that has never worked for anyone I know. I even told them about my other friends zero results prior to them having bought it, but it didn’t work.

These weight loss pill companies have superior advertising skills and knowledge, and they know exactly which buttons to push to make people buy buy buy. It’s amazing how they are skilled in psychological buying habits even further than what most buyers know about themselves.

You see, a lot of what these companies sell is not really Hoodia at all. And these companies target folks who are looking for that quick fix. The companies know that most everyone wanting to lose weight isn’t willing to take the simple route of changing their diet…they know people want “the pill”.

Initially, Hoodia seems like a perfect fix for someone looking to lose weight quickly, and the product has made manufacturers of the pill TONS of money. All of the hype started a couple years ago when a popular night-time infomercial presented Hoodia as a new and potentially exciting weight-loss pill.

It wasn’t long after this period that the internet and infomercials became abundant. Basically everywhere you turned Hoodia was being advertised, written about, and touted. It was mass hysteria in local vitamin stores and pharmacies.

Actually, the first use for Hoodia came from the Bushmen of Southern Africa. For centuries they used Hoodia as an appetite suppressant for hunting trips and periods of scarce food supply. While it may suppress the appetite in it’s raw and natural state, there is little evidence to suggest that taking the pills will result in long-lasting weight loss.

The major issue lies in the fact that the supplement industry is not federally regulated in the United States. This makes it easy for any scammer to put whatever they want in a capsule and sell it for huge profits.

It would be like putting ground, dried broccoli into a pill and selling it as the next cure to obesity because several vitamins in broccoli have been show to positively effect metabolism. Wouldn’t it be more effective to just eat the broccoli? Likewise, how many pills would you have to consume to get an equal serving of what an African Bushman would consume to ward off hunger?

And here is a startling fact. The quantity of Hoodia being sold throughout the world FAR EXCEEDS the amount that is actually produced and manufactured. This indicates that it is highly likely that many Hoodia products are counterfeit. Also, Hoodia is only grown in a small area of southern Africa and takes a large amount of time to grow and harvest.

Basically, the ingredients contained in a Hoodia pill don’t even have to be “100% Hoodia”, because ever since the Dietary Supplement and Health Education Act (DSHEA) of 1994, there is no regulation or testing to assure that what their label claims is actually in the bottle. This is why vitamins, Hoodia, and any other pill being sold for weight loss is labeled as a “dietary supplement” and not a “food”.

Besides the issues with quality and purity, there is also no scientific proof at this point that these small doses that they are using will actually cause any type of weight loss at all in humans. It is highly likely that any Hoodia used by the Bushmen was in high quantities and almost comparable to using it as a food source.

And lastly, even if Hoodia were to actually help curb your appetite, this isn’t actually a good thing. You see, eating less will deprive your body of the nutrition it needs to function properly and maintain lean muscle mass, all of which regulates your metabolic rate. Proper nutrition is needed to lose weight, and any reduction in calorie intake may actually keep you from losing weight!

If by some stroke of happenstance you did lose weight, this weight loss would most likely come from muscle and water weight. Loss of muscle is always accompanied by a slower metabolism, which would lead to excess fat gain in the future. This is the major contributor to a so-called “yo-yo diet”.

So, here is a recap of the major issues:

1. Much of the Hoodia being sold is highly unlikely to be real. If it is real, it’s highly likely to contain worthless fillers and other ingredients.

2. Assuming that you could obtain 100% Hoodia, the plant has little if any evidence proving that it’s consumption leads to quick weight loss or sustainable weight loss.

So what’s the conclusion? Really no one knows for sure if Hoodia works according to it’s claims. Thus far, there aren’t many studies done on the plant and no evidence is given for optimal serving amounts.

Weight loss really can’t be found in a bottle. If you want to get an amazing body, you have to follow what people that have amazing bodies do…and these people do not use pills in a bottle to get their physiques! There are no substitutes for a good diet and physical activity, but there are plenty of scams if you want to throw away your money.

Myths About Healthy Eating

Tags: , , ,

As you may know, not fueling up with the right nutrients can affect how well your body performs and your overall fitness benefits. Even though

healthy eating is important, there are myths that hinder your performance if you listen to them.

Below, you’ll find some myth busters on healthy eating.

1. Working out on an empty stomach.

If you hear a rumbling noise in your stomach, the rumbling is trying to tell you something. Without listening to them, you are forcing your body to run without any fuel. Before you exercise or do any physical activity, always eat a light snack such as an apple.

2. Relying on energy bars and drink.

Although they are fine every once in a while, they don’t deliver the antioxidants you need to prevent cancer. Fruits and vegetables are your best bets,as they are loaded in vitamins, minerals, fluid, and fiber.

3. Skipping breakfast.

Skipping breakfast is never a good idea, as breakfast starts the day. Your body needs fuel as soon as possible, and without it, you’ll be hungry throughout the day.

4. Low carb diets.

Your body needs carbohydrates for your muscles and the storing of energy.

5. Eating what you want.

Eating healthy and exercising doesn’t give you an all access pass to eat anything you want. Everyone needs the same nutrients whether they exercise or not, as well as fruits and vegetables.

6. Not enough calories

Although losing weight involves calories, losing it too quickly is never safe. What you should do,is aim for 1 – 2 pounds a week. Always make sure that you are getting enough calories to keep your body operating smoothly. If you start dropping weight too fast, eat a bit more food.

7. Skip soda and alcohol.

Water, milk, and juice is the best to drink for active people. You should drink often, and not require on thirst to be an indicator. By the time you get thirsty, your body is already running a bit too low.

Changing how you eat is always a great step towards healthy eating and it will affect how your body performs. The healthier you eat, you better you’ll feel. No matter how old you may be, healthy eating is something you should strive for. Once you give it a chance, you’ll see in no time at all just how much it can change your life – for the

better.

Dental Town Adviser Talks About Why It’s the Best Time to be a Dentist Today

Tags: , , , , , , , , ,

In this article, dental town adviser Ed O’ Keefe will give you an update on what’s happening in the dental profession today that’s new, that’s hot, that is making practices more successful than ever. The dental town adviser will share to you the reason why now is the best time to be in a dental practice. And the dental town adviser will also share to you how to systemize your practice so that you can gain more patients. And this is something they focus specifically at their dental practice website!

Here’s what’s Ed is going to share with you:

Now with the talk of the economy and everything that’s going on, the reality is that there has never been a better time to be a dentist, or to be a marketer of the dental practice right now! And that’s what I have realized as a dental town adviser. With the “baby boomer” explosion that’s occuring right now and seniors living longer than ever before, there’s never been a better time to reposition and start sub-niching dental practices. Repositioning is about making the practice something for a particular demographic group where they have a great deal of discussion to spend whether they have good coverages, and they have problems like, for example, how to market dental implants. I always think like dental implants is the easiest thing to make big money quickly in dentistry, because you have frustrated patients, people out there with dentures and partials/missing teeth who have serious health problems if they don’t have natural teeth or strong teeth, even if they’re fake. Those are real concerns out there, and since people are living longer they want to have the stronger, healthier, more durable teeth. So to market to that kind of population is really simple because they have those kind of dental problems. For example, here’s a person who have bad dentures and partials for years, and there would be a $36,000-dental care required for her to go to the dentist and have the problem taken cared of… plus there would be an additional cosmetic work of course, because once you start to fix the function, you would want to fix the appearance! So marketing your services to this person would be a very good idea, because it would solve the dental problem that she has!

Now, the biggest problems that a lot of doctors have in general is that they get more education, more clinical training, and they think that that’s going to fix their income. But the reality is that the answer lies in the marketing of their services. It’s like your “backdooring” it instead of trying to tell everybody that you’re the best dentist there is (while anyone can say that and everybody’s saying that!). So as a dental town adviser, what we do differently than just about anybody else is we just teach them how to sub-niche and that’s really going to be where the future of the next level of marketing of dentistry is! It’s really like having 2, or 3, or 4 mini practices in one practice! One of the things that we did is in the area of Invisalign. Invisalign is very well known and so I know that a lot of my doctors were promoting Invisalign, and they were struggling with it. They went out and got trained, spent all weekend, and so some of them have tested and tried the Open House. Well, we know how to run seminars so we just shifted the gears, we told them how to run Open House and seminars. And if you do an Open House correctly using marketing, you can’t just throw it out to the open house because you have nobody showing up, but if you do multi-seminar marketing, do it the right way like we teach! We had guys do $100,000 in one day in their dental practices and just recently, one of our implant clients did a workshop for niche-marketing, targeted-marketing, and they went to a little area that’s outside where it’s like a retirement community of people. And within 45 minutes, 20 implant cases came from it and referrals were coming from it. And it went over $200,000 of revenue in the first month and a half. So it’s just kind of like shifting having to do with the thinking of how you’re going with your business, we could do 1 or 2 of these every quarter and sell more dentistry than doing mailers all day long. You see, it’s all about the fact that the dentist has to be willing to change this whole thinking about price, about markets, and about marketing!

As a dental town adviser, what I’m doing is making them very efficient, so really, one of the doctors that I’m best suited for is the guy who’s like actually marketing a verse, who finds it painful, who finds it troublesome, who only likes to do it under a desperate circumstances. It’s because I can actually systemize it in a way that he doesn’t have to pay attention to it everyday, he doesn’t have to be involved in it all the time! You can have periodic events that feed the whole practice. And that’s very cool! In addition to this, one thing we’ve realized especially with dental practices is that the previous scale are continuing to grow and getting off the “dental treadmill” or the “rollercoaster income” kind of analogies. Now, we’re training the staff to run all the marketing for the doctors! So even if it’s a different language to them, we got systems that would teach the staff member or team member, and we do these trainings all the time. So if you hire somebody new, we’ll train them and turn them into a little mini-marketing expert in your office, and that’s the way they should run it, and it creates that ideal lifestyle that we teach our doctors as well. The keyword there is “system”. You should know that all of the wealthy people in America is traced to such systems, and that’s the “make-a-break” difference in businesses, and every dentist should find out about them and investigate them!

Facts About Healthy Eating – Eat Right And Feel Great

Tags: , , , , , ,

It is common knowledge that we should all regularly consume healthy foods.  Sadly, most of us do not. Many of us are guilty of gorging on foods that are filled with saturated fat and loads of useless calories. Between meals, we have a tendency to reach for greasy chips or sugary candy bars instead of healthy snacks.

This article will give you a solid foundation on which to build some healthy eating habits. Learning the many benefits of a healthy diet can be very uplifting and may motivate you to alter your eating habits for the better.

One particularly disturbing fact is that most people do not consume the recommended five fruits and vegetables per day!  Regularly forgoing your fruits and veggies may lead to life threatening complications years down the line.

Avoid serious obstacles early by eating five fruits and vegetable daily. If you are like the many others that find it difficult to consume the recommended amount, try following these simple tips:

* Most people love spaghetti bolagnaise. Why not dice some of your favorite vegetable to add to your bolagnaise sauce? You may not even taste the difference!

* Drink a fair amount of fruit juices. Any fruit juice will do. A single glass of juice every day will take care of one of your five servings!

* Oddly enough, people don’t seem to count potatoes towards their daily vegetable servings. Potatoes fall into the vegetable category too. It’s easy to shuffle in potatoes with almost every meal. There are so many healthy recipes available for free online that it is almost overwhelming.  If you find yourself wracking your brain to think of healthy recipes containing fruits and vegetables, then try a search engine.

Another alarming fact is that 95% of us are ingesting copious amounts of processed foods. We eat foods containing added chemicals, extra salt and large quantities of sugar. These foods are scattered throughout grocery stores nationwide, but ‘TV Dinners’ and other convenience foods are the main offenders.

It is absolutely critical that you begin eating a consistent diet of healthy foods.

Bottom line is that, YOU need to start eating healthy foods on a regular basis. If you are at all interested in what you’ve been reading then I highly recommend you check out my site for more information.

News For Dental Hygienists About Dental Caries

Tags: , , , ,

According to recent reports, there has been remarkable progress in the reduction of dental caries – also known as tooth decay – in the United States over the past thirty years. The existence of children with no dental caries, which was known to be a rarity in the past, is no longer unusual. The use of fluoride in public water supplies, in toothpaste, and in professional dental products seems to be working as planned. additionally, improved oral hygiene and increased access to dental care have played major roles in this dramatic improvement.

Nevertheless, dental caries remains a significant problem for much of the population. Nearly one-fifth of children between the ages of two and four have some detectable caries, and by the age of seventeen nearly four-fifths of young people have had a cavity, which is a late manifestation of dental caries infection. In addition, more than two-thirds of adults age thirty-five to forty-four years have lost at least one permanent tooth due to dental caries, and older adults usually suffer from the problem of root caries.

In a bigger look at the picture, there remains a large segment of the population in which the disease is still a major problem. These health disparities, detailed in the Surgeon General’s Report on oral health, tend to be clustered in minority children, the economically underprivileged, older persons, the chronically ill, and institutionalized persons; in other words the very populations with the lowest access to dental care.

It should be noted that dental caries is both an infectious and communicable disease. It results in destruction of tooth structure by way of acid-forming bacteria which are found in dental plaque, an intraoral biofilm, in the presence of sugar. The infection generally results in loss of tooth minerals if it goes unchecked. This damage begins on the outer surface of the tooth and can then progress through the dentin to the pulp, with the ultimate result of compromising the vitality of the tooth.

During the past few decades, dental hygienists have noted that changes have been observed not only in the prevalence of dental caries, but also in the distribution and pattern of the disease throughout the population. Specifically, it has been observed that the relative distribution of dental caries on tooth surfaces has changed. Also, the rate of lesion progression through the teeth is relatively slow for most people. These changes have important implications for diagnosis and management of incipient lesions and predicting caries risk. It could change the way we look at conducting effective disease prevention and management programs for individuals and populations throughout the world.

In order to make continued progress in eliminating this common disease, new methods and strategies will be required in order to provide enhanced access for those who suffer disproportionately from the disease. New plans are forming to provide improved detection of dental caries, risk assessment, and diagnosis. There is also a need to create improved methods to arrest or reverse the non-cavitated lesion while improving surgical management of the cavitated lesion.

Some of the conclusions of the National Institutes of Health’s Consensus Development Conference:

Digitally acquired images have great potential in the detection of non-cavitated caries and in the diagnosis of secondary caries. Some promising new diagnostic techniques include fiber-optic transillumination and light and laser fluorescence.

So far, past caries experience is the most consistent predictor of caries risk in children. There is also evidence of matrilineal transmission of mutans streptococci in early childhood. So the presence of caries in the mother and siblings tends to increase the risk for the child.

Inadequate exposure to fluoride confers increased risk of dental caries. Other conditions that are also associated with caries risk include certain illnesses, physical and mental disabilities, and the presence of existing restorations or oral appliances. Medications containing glucose, fructose, or sucrose may also contribute to caries risk.

In the development of caries treatment, dentistry has historically moved to surgical restoration from extraction. Identification of early caries lesions and treatment with non-surgical methods, including remineralization, represent the next era in dental care. This stopping and reversing of caries depends on an early and accurate diagnosis, which remains a developing field. Improved diagnosis is essential if maximum benefits are to be obtained.

The caries process is known to be endemic and potentially both preventable and curable. This can only be achieved by identifying, arresting, and reversing the disease at an early stage. Although more research is needed, clinical strategies to do this already exist. The panel concluded that existing strategies for primary prevention in the general population are also likely to be effective for arresting or reversing early lesions. These strategies include application of fluorides, antimicrobials, salivary enhancers, chlorhexidine, sealants, and patient education. Fluorides and chlorhexidine can be delivered as rinses, varnishes, or gels.

The dental profession has had success in promoting the prevention of caries. The opportunity now exists to extend prevention and treatment of caries to nonsurgical methods.

These include further prevention, arrest of early noncavitated lesions, and remineralization. Controlled studies that inform third-party payers can do much to support the adoption of more advanced diagnostic and preventive nonsurgical techniques into the practice of dentistry. Studies that explore a range of reimbursement options may be helpful in identifying reimbursement methods that both reward and encourage preventive nonsurgical dental treatment. Practicing dental hygienists should have adequate incentives to apply these findings. Educational institutions and their curricula, state and national dental boards and board examiners, and accreditation agencies must also support the growing evidence for prevention and nonsurgical treatment where indicated in order to promote the continued eradication of caries.

The expert panel conclusively suggested that a continued appraisal of progressional reports, experimental findings, and case studies of the dental hygienist community and associated dental practitioners indicated by the accumulated information presented conclusively to the study presented at the National Institutes of Health’s Consensus Development Conference is recommended in the form of further clinical analysis if a continued enlightenment of these preventative methodologies is to continue to implement it’s progressive impact.

What Do You Need To Know About The Weight Loss Pill?

Tags: , , , , ,

The pharmaceutical companies who manufacture weight loss pills are enjoying a boom time at the moment feeding off the desperation of a populus that is increasing in weight year after year.

Sales of prescribed weight loss pills and over the counter variants are going through the roof since the health scares surrounding types of this product caused it to be removed from circulation during the late 1990s. Links to heart valve disease were something of a death nail to the weight loss pill market.

Nowadays, the weight loss pill is experiencing a renaissance. According to the pharmaceutical companies these weight loss pills are made completely of natural ingredients and are no longer of risk but yet they are still dogged by health issues.

Weight loss pills can be either prescribed or bought over the counter and the difference between the two are briefly highlighted here:

Prescription Weight Loss Pills:

Weight loss pills that are prescribed are regulated by the Food and Drug Administration agency. These pills have been monitored and scrutinized by the administration prior to use by the general public and as such are deemed the safer option.

The most popular of these is Xenical which works by reducing the amount of fat consumed by the body by 30 %. Unfortunately, Xenical is still dogged by side effects that include passing gas, abdominal cramping, increased number of bowel movements, leakage of oily stool and a loss of total control over bowel movements.

Over-the-Counter Weight Loss Pills:

The temptation to use over-the-counter weight-loss pills is often irresistible and the fact that many are not regulated warrants the question, are these products safe?

There are many pharmaceutical companies cashing in on the revived weight loss pill market and this is mirrored by the myriad of products available. Here is a shortlist of products, their claims and what you need to know:

1 Hoodia:

Possibly one of the better known products, claims to decrease appetite substantially.

Verdict: No conclusive evidence to support any of their claims.

2. Alli:

Reduces fat absorption by the intestines. A lesser strength variant of Xenical.

Verdict: As one of the few FDA approved over the counter weight loss pills it has the benefit of backing to substantiate its weight loss claims.

3. Guar gum:

Stops absorption of fat and suppresses appetite.

Verdict: Unlikely to cause weight loss, can cause gastrointestinal problems.

4.Green tea extract: Much revered in certain circles as it is claimed to increase metabolism

Verdict: Limited supportive evidence.

There are literally hundreds more all with relatively the same verdict. There is one resounding factor that all of these weight loss pills have in common. They all state that they are more effective when used in conjunction with a diet and a exercise routine.

If you decide to use a weight loss pill and follow its instruction to use a diet and an exercise program isn’t that hiding whether or not the tablet is effective or not?

Personally, I would forget the weight loss pill and look for an effective weight loss plan that will:

1. NOT tell me to go on a low calorie diet yet still provide me with fast but sustained weight loss

2. NOT put my health at risk

3. NOT cost a fortune

The Truth About Junk Food And The Effect On Your Health

Tags: , , , , ,

Let’s face it, junk food is, as the name suggest, just pure junk. While it tastes great, it has very little nutrition content and it will cause some health issues in the near future.

First, let me say that I am not advocating a total abstain of junk food but a moderation of it.

There are many people out there that are not thinking of their general health all the time when they are thinking of something to eat all the time. With all the fast food restaurants out there many do not think about exactly what they are eating all the time.

There is nothing wrong with eating at fast food restaurants but you really need to watch what you are eating all the time. If you were to think about it what you eat really reflects your general health all the time.

If you are one that eats a lot of junk food then you could be run down all the time and gaining weight on a regular basis. You may not notice it right away but your friends and family will see that you are not doing as well as you used to and that is because of the junk food that you are eating all the time.

If you have been told that you are looking real ragged then you are going to want to stop and look at what you are eating and doing in your life that would make you look ragged. Once you have accomplished and narrowed down a list of what may be making you look ragged then you are going to want to change some or all of your habits. When you make an effort of changing your habits then you are going to see that you are going to end up in better general health than what you were in before.

When you are in good general health you will notice that you are going to have more energy and be more alert to what you are doing and what is going on around you in the end. Your family and friend will also notice that you are doing better and even looking better in the end as well. That is because when you are in good general health you are going to end up showing it with everything that you do so that everyone will notice what you have accomplished in the end.

In conclusion, you should not be eating too much junk food. It does nothing but causing some negative health issues for you.
